My Baby Boy!

So last Wednesday June 30th I noticed that Dexter was limping again, this has been happening on and off for a few months, but it always goes away within a week or so and we keep on keepin on!  Well we have not been as lucky this time, I noticed that is was getting worse and so I could enjoy my 4th of July weekend at the lake I decided to take him to the vet.

He saw Dr. Hunter on Saturday July 3th, Hunter is the BEST in town, and was the vet clinic that fixed his other knee in October.  Anyway there was some good news, he hasn't dislocated this knee YET and the tendon is still in place FOR NOW.  He isn't able to tell if there is a tear in the tendon but Dexter is to be on strict crate care for the next 2 weeks and gets Rimadyl 2 times a day to help with inflammation for the next 2 weeks.  IF everything goes away and he is walking fine in 2 weeks, then we are good to go BUT if he is still refusing to use the leg then he will get an X Ray to see if there is something wrong with the tendon in his knee, which will mean SURGERY!  I of course am not happy about this BUT I am so thankful that it is his knee and not his hips WHEW!

Dexter has been at my parents house since Saturday July 3rd, and is on a stict leash restriction so he can't walk or jump.  My parents tell me he is doing well, isn't in pain, and doesn't seem upset but his use of the leg isn't getting any better.  I know it is only the 2nd day since going to the vet, but I want him to get better SO BAD!  We have decided to keep him there for a few more days so that Milton can't harass him.  This has been the hardest 2 days for me but I know it is the best thing for him.  Shawn is thinking he wants me to stay at my parents house until the 2 weeks are up to ensure he gets all the rest and confinement he needs.  I am SO not ready for the recovery of another knee but once this is done he doesn't have a knee to hurt :-) AND since we have had such amazing luck with his other knee I am on board to fix it ASAP. Shawn isn't quite there yet, obviously due to the money part of it, but I just want my baby to be better and on the mend and gets to enjoy the next 15 years of his life without pain.

I will keep everyone updated, and I hope it is good news!
