Quick One

So while I was at work today the boys decided to be cute and cuddle up!!  Shawn was lucky enough to get a few shots before they moved so here they are!

I had the funeral today for my student who died and when I got home I was so happy to see my boys loving eachother and since I looked cute I had Shawn snap a picture of me and my boys!! Although I have gained weight these last 4 years I actually really like this picture so here it is!!

Dexter and Milton when to the vet today and it was a happy check up.  Dexter went first and Dr said everything looked FANTASTIC and his knee is in place and is solid YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  He said give him 2 more weeks of light duty, meaning no walking up or down the stairs, no jumping etc. but other than that he is GREAT!!!!!!!!!

Milton weighed in at 5.5lbs and looks good.  He got his 2nd round of shots and took it like a man, didn't even flinch.  We talked about the parvo and he said he thinks we are in the clear but to keep an eye on him for a few more days, he said it has about a 5 day incubation period so as long as he doesn't start vomitting within the next few days we should be fine WHEW for now!  He is still eating and drinking like a champ, and doens't appear to be having any problems so yay!

Well we have a busy day tomorrow but I will be sure to get pictures of the boys in their halloween costumes and post them ASAP!

Yay for my pug boys

So today has been an exciting day, with the exception of Dexter jumping off the bed AND going up the stairs, which is not so exciting, the boys played today.  At first I thought Dexter was mad at Milton for being in his face but as I watched them I realized that Dexter was actually playing, which right now is a no-no but I let them go at it for a few seconds before I had to stop the madness before Dexter got hurt, AGAIN!

On to my sad news, I had a student commit suicide this weekend SO tomorrow and Friday I will be attending a candle light vigil and the funeral with the rest of my co workers.  It came as a shock and it has been tough to see the kids go through the pain, and it reminded me so much of all the emotions I felt when Bobby died 6 years ago.  So with my boys getting along so well it has been nice, keeps my mind a little more sane.

As for Milton, still no signs of Parvo YAY and only 1 more day until we go to the vet and get checked out!!

Shawn has been working with the local community college to get some training for electrical something (you can tell how much I pay attention) so he is going in tomorrow to talk with a counselor about all of his options.  I am so excited for him to possibly find a new carrer were he doesn't have to be worried about getting laid off anytime soon!!  I keep pushing for him to go into teaching, but he isn't interested :-(

Well off to bed, I have a full day tomorrow, fingerprints in the AM and the candle light vigil in the PM!! WHEW!

Picture Update!

Here are some recent pictures of Milton, he is starting to get more comfortable here and him and Dexter are starting to become better friends.  Right now I am in Parvo crisis, Heather (our dog trainer) planted the thought in my head because we took him out in the neighborhood for a walk...apparently that is a no no when they are young...OOPS!! So we go to the vet on Friday for his 2nd round of shots and I will be the crazy pug parents then, unless he starts to show signs before then.  So far he has shown no signs, and I have no reason to worry, and if Heather would have never said anything I probably never would have given it a 2nd thought.  So here I go being CRAZY!!

BTW, we weighted Milton today and he is 5lbs 2oz right now...he is growing YAY

So this bed used to be Dexter's but Milton has claimed it as his so Dexter got a new bed.

Shawn took similar pictures of Dexter when he was younger so he tried to recreate the same look for Milton, this is what you get.

This looks like a postcard to me!!

The boys slowly but surely getting more comfortable with eachother, hope Dexter excepts him when he is feeling a little better.

As for Dexter, he is doing well, his incision is completely healed, he still isn't walking as good as I expected him to but it has not even been 2 weeks yet.  He is going with us to the vet on Friday to get a check up and make sure everything is going well.  We are hoping he gets to OK to do stairs, it is getting OLD carrying him up and down the stairs EVERY TIME he as to go to the bathroom.  But it is worth is as long as he doesn't rehurt his leg.

I will keep everyone updated on my little men!!

Quick Pic

The other night I caught Milton and Dexter snuggling together!!

Just thought I would share :-)

Milton's First Pug Meet Up

Milton attended his first Pug Meet Up on Sat Oct 24.  I felt bad for him because he wanted to play and see everyone but puppy's are so popular with the other dogs he just got tackled everytime I put him on the ground so he had to stay on my lap 99% of the time.  This is the only picture I have from the say, Andy took it!!

Dexter is doing well, went for our morning walk and he seems to be doing better than ever!  Glad his jump didn't hurt him :-)

Off to clean the house and get ready for DEXTER!!!!!!!

Oh Dexter!

So in an attempt to get away from Milton today Dexter jumped onto the couch.  This is a HUGE NO-NO considering there is supposed to be no jumping (up or down) or running (which he has done a little of outside) for another 4 weeks.  So yea, I am one nervous pug mom about what is going on inside that knee of his.  I am sure it will be fine, but in my panic'ed state he does appear to be walking a little funny.  GRR!  We shall see tomorrow how he does when we go for our walk, hope we didn't just ruin everything we have been working toward over this past week! UGH!

I have decided I love this dog too much considering I can't sleep unless he is snuggled in right next to me?!  I can't wait for these next few weeks to pass, I want my old Dexter back!

Still Surviving!

We have made it through another day, Dexter spend today at the vet too which is always such a piece of mind for me while I am working.  Although today when we picked him up I noticed that part of his incision looked a little red and possibly starting to open up, I thought that was strange since the wound is 1 week old, I thought we were in the clear and wouldn't have to deal with this.  So this prompted a call to the vet who said to watch it and see if it changes, well it didn't change until about 9pm tonight when I noticed that it is starting to ooze every so slightly.  Guess this means a LONG night of not sleeping and an early trip to the vet in the morning to make sure we don't split his entire incision open and have to start from scratch...UGH!!!!

On to other news, it felt great to be able to clean up around the house a little today, Dexter has gotten so used to being on my lap ALL THE TIME that I am trying to break him of this so that he will start walking around and being more independent SO I locked myself in the kicken and cleaned!!  As odd as that is it felt so good to be doing something other than watching a sick dog.

Milton is doing well, driving Dexter crazy but that is understandable considering he is a puppy.  I can't wait till he is just a little older and doesn't want to be jumping in Dexter's face all the time.  We are one busy house right now but I know I will enjoy it once this whole mess of surgery is behind us.

Once I make it through tomorrow I will have 2 full days to spend with my fur babies and I can't wait!!

my little man before he was broken!

Just thought I would share

Top one is Dexter, bottom on Milton, thought it was kinda cute that they are kinda both doing the same thing!! Random I know!

Dexter's Surgery!

Dexter went in on Thursday Oct 15th for Luxating Patella Surgery, this is more commonly known as a dislocating kneecap surgery. He made it through surgery PERFECT and was able to come home with us the same afternoon. This is him right after we got home. Dexter and I spent the afternoon and evening in bed recooping from a stressful day.

After a few hours Shawn and I noticed that his incision was showing so a quick trup to the vet and we returned with a new wrap...he wasn't a fan BUT it kept the incision clean and covered...for about a day!!

This is the day we went in to get the bandage removed...Monday Oct 19th...I was one stressed out pug mom, he wasn't eating, was drinking, wasn't going to the bathroom and I wasn't thinking it was fair for him, and I was a basket case!! But after a trip to the vet we had the bandage removed and he is walking OK, and doesn't have to have anything on his leg anymore and d FINALLY went to the bathroom YAY... BUT now he has the dreaded CONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't like how pitiful he looks in it, but I know it is the best for his incision to heal. We don't make him keep in on all the time, but whenever he is obssessing over his leg, on it goes!

This is his incision after a day without a bandage, taken Tuesday Oct 20th. It looks WAY nastier than it really is, and is almost healed!!

And today, Shawn and I were both working so Dexter spent the day hanging with the ladies at the vet, they are so awesome there, they keep him free of charge, it gives me piece of mind that he is being taken care of. So when we got home we went for a short walk and then he loves to snuggle me on the couch. He is so sweet!!
I hope we continue to have success and great news with the outcome of this surgery! We will keep everyone up to date!

Meet Milton...WAY WAY overdue!!

OK so I never officially made a post of our new puppy Milton Desmond Dunn. We have had him with us for almost 2 weeks now and even though the boys still aren't that close...with Dexter's surgery and all, they do seem to be warming up to eachother. They have both slept with us the past 2 nights and the snuggle a little, when no one else is watching :-)

So here are some pictures that I promised of little Milton. Although it was a stressful time to add a puppy into our house he is a great addition. He is very full of energy and exhausts me but I know he is happy to have a house and yard to run around in.

He really wasn't in trouble in this picture, he just still hasn't learned that having your picture taken is a fun thing!!

Sunday October 11, 2009...WHAT A DAY!!!!!!!!!!

OK so today has been one crazy and exciting day!! We will start off with the wonderful news of my cousin Missi giving birth to a healthy baby boy Gunner David he weighed 7lbs 1oz and was 20.5 inches long. He is a cute little man...

I also got to take some pictures of my friends Lindsey and Andy here is a sample of some, let me tell you getting 2 people and 3 dogs to look at you is a lot harder than one might think...
